High Court serve claim on Facebook

-A judge has given the go-ahead for a claim to be served via Facebook in what is thought to be the first case of its kind in a English High Court. The courts in Australia and New Zealand have regularly approved claims but in Britain there have only been a couple of instances when the courts have used networking sites and not at the level of the High Court.

East Coast app

-Train operator East Coast is set to launch  a mobile site and app following a study that revealed 30% of its passengers would like to book tickets via their phones. With more and more people on the go and using their mobiles when trying to look up and plan a journey it's great to see yet another digital offering that will hopefully make planning a journey ever so slightly easier.

Twitter tactics

-The Telegraph reported this week that one of the most important ways for businesses to get ahead on Twitter is by helping others who have a problem, according to a new list of tactics collated by Add People. The list, which compiles the top 20 Twitter tactics advises those running an account for a company to "be authentic". See the list of tactics here.

Unwanted tagging

-Ever been tagged in an unwanted photo on Facebook? Thought about suing that person? Well that's what a man from Minnesota, USA tried to do this week on behalf of every Facebook user that has ever been embarrassed by that unwanted tag. However the court ruled tagging an unflattering photo is not grounds for a harassment suit!

500million people tweeting

-Twitter now has 500million users! The micro-blogging site reached the landmark half-a-billion subscriber mark yesterday and is now 345 million users behind from Facebook. Today, 140 million tweets are posted daily and there are 12.1 new twitterers every second!

What people say

“It’s been a pleasure working with Siren Communications in the build-up to our inaugural Hospitality Technology event. Their persistence, dedication and on-the-ground media intelligence has achieved us great coverage in a number of our key target publications and given us great profile within the hospitality industry in the run up to our new show as well as promoting the tenth anniversary of our Travel Technology Europe event. We have been very impressed with Siren’s ability to balance the press office demands of a well-established event whilst driving excitement and buzz around a brand new launch event. The team secured a strong list of influential journalists to attend both events and the feedback that we’ve had from both media and the industry itself has been second to none. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.”

Daniela Reck, Marketing Manager, Centaur Exhibitions
